Certero Expands into Australia and RSA

September 29th 2010 – Software Asset Management Specialist, Certero™, announces its launch into the South African and Australia markets. In South Africa, Certero has appointed distributor Prodata to sell, market and support its highly successful Software Asset Management solution, AssetStudio™, its Power Management product, PowerStudio™ 2.0, as well as Passworks™, a self-service password management solution andSoftware Metering for Decision Makers™, an application monitoring solution. Certero’s Australian operation will initially support customers in Australia and New Zealand, and will work towards marketing and supporting Certero products in Asia in the near future.

Certero’s products are already used by a large number of major global organisations, such as Linpac, Diodes, Ideal Standard as well as major UK organisations across Private and Public sectors including CrownPaints, Swinton Insurance, Royal Air Force, Bradford MDC and North Mersey HIS NHS. Certero helps organisations remove complex processes to drive efficiencies in their IT Business Assets, with products designed for businesses or organisations that are looking at desktop PC utilisation and power consumption. Certero partners include Microsoft, VMware, Citrix and Sophos.

The opening of these two operations marks a move into key international markets that are becoming increasingly important in the Software Asset Management and PC Power Management arenas, and a presence on the ground enables Certero to professionally deliver their innovation solutions. The new openings will enable recognition for global organisations that Software Asset Management is becoming a universal challenge that businesses need to tackle sooner rather than later. This is particularly true in the Australian market, where today’s Green IT Agenda is being determined by targets being set by the National Energy Greenhouse Reporting (NEGR), the Energy Efficiency Opportunities (EEO) and Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS); against this backdrop, the distribution of Certero’s products and services is timely.

John Lunt, managing director and co-founder of Certero, commented: “Our expansion into Australia, New Zealand and South Africa is testament to the success we have seen in the UK and Europe with a range of solutions that address areas including software license management and compliance and carbon footprint reduction with our web-based PC power management offering, PowerStudio.” Lunt added: “The opportunity in these markets is significant, as major organisations look to address energy targets, ensure they are fully compliant with software licenses and ultimately drive value from IT business assets.”

Certero’s PowerStudio saves energy, reduces CO₂ and quickly lowers electricity bills for PCs, Laptops and thin clients. It applies centralised computing power policies to enable organisations to save money, reduce their carbon footprint and prolong the life of their computer equipment. PowerStudio tackles the problem of energy waste, driven by PCs left switched on overnight, over the weekends and even over holidays. PowerStudio enabled a UK council to save around 390 tonnes of CO₂ annually by powering down PCs when not in use.

Certero’s AssetStudio addresses today’s complexities of Software Asset Management, using unique automation to enable a real time Effective License Position, developed to help organisations prove they are compliant with regard to their software licenses. The solution includes traditional ITAM functionality with very strong hardware and software discovery, inventory and software delivery. AssetStudio enables all critical data to be conveniently contained in one SAM database, adhering to SAM best practices and meeting recognised industry and government standards.

Certero has established web sites for each local market and further information can be found at: www.certero.com.au for Australia and www.certero.co.za for South Africa.
